Rodent Damage

Missing
bark., cambium., the top of the tree., limb., branch.

Have you seen a piece of your tree missing? It might be due to rats, mice or other rodents chewing them down.

In some of the more severe cases the damage could even kill the tree.

Why are the rodents eating My trees?

This typicly happens in the colder months so food is scarcer than in the warmer months. Another reason is it's just colder outside and the rodents are looking for a warm place to stay.

How do I know it's rodents?

Perhaps the easiest way to tell that rodents are eating your trees, is to look at the border of the damaged area, there you should look for small teeth marks. The shape of the mark should look like two teeth have bitten into it.

Hoe do I stop the damage and protect my trees?

The best way is to trap and kill all of the rodent. We use the Victor® rat traps and the HavAHeart® live traps
