What is this method and why should I use it?

This so far has been our highest percent success rate almost 100% on a 64-cutting sample. It is one of the more advanced methods but it’s still pretty easy.

What will I need?

  • 32oz clear cups.
  • Markers.
  • A razor blade or drill to make holes in the bottom of the cups.
  • Coir and D.E. mix, 60 Coir and field capacity and the rest D.E.
  • Dip n’Gro.
  • A knife to scrap the cutting and expose the cambium.
  • Press and Seal.

Step by step:

  • Drill holes in the bottom of the cups or cut them, then label the side of each one. Fill the cup 80% full unpacked.
  • Your cutting should have a 1/2 inch gap between the top of the cup and 2 inches between the bottom of the cup and cutting.
  • Scrap the sides of your cutting with the knife until the green cambium is exposed.
  • Dip for 3-5 seconds in the Dip n’Gro mixture let dry for 2 minutes.
  • Push the cutting down into the soil until there are two inches of space between it and the bottom of the cup this is critical, so the cutting doesn’t rot.
  • Leave a 1/2 inch gap between the top of the cup and the top of the cutting.
  • Cover the top of the cup with a square of press and seal, this is to keep the humidity 100% but the holes in the bottom let some the soil dry out some to prevent the mold to keep up with the cutting.
  • Once the cutting breaks bud take the press and seal of. If there is no condensation on the inside of the cup water the bottom two inches via a 3 second dipping.
