As soon as you get your fig cuttings you want to check if they are damaged, so you can get a refund or replacement.

Here are the signs that you cutting is damaged or not well:
- Dry looking wrinkled bark.
- A very dark green to brown cambium.
- The bark just slipping off of the cutting.
- Mold on the ends or bark.
- Mushy tips or buds.
How to prevent this from happening to your own cuttings.
- Always wash and scrub the cuttings you buy or the ones you take yourself but don’t knock of the buds while scrubbing, Physan 20 is wonderful thing to add to the water solution.
- Double bag the cuttings in the refrigerator this keeps the cutting much fresher than just one unsealed bag.
- Keep your refrigerator at 37°.
Try to strike your cuttings as soon as you can. If you are going to store them for more than a few weeks wrap each cutting in parafilm and double bag them in Ziplock or produce bags.
