Yesterday we sampled Azores Dark. Ours came from a cutting from Off the Beaten Path nursery in PA.
Here is a summary of our comments.
A very dark berry fig. Mild to moderate berry flavor, slight figgy flavor, slight seed crunch, moderately sweet. Tight eye. Firm flesh. Good fig.
This is the very first fig off of this tree. It was just rooted last fall/winter and potted up in a 2.4G pot this spring. In spite of that, the fig was a very nice medium to slightly large in size - but it was the only one that is had put on so far.
I am hoping to see an improvement in the fruit quality as the tree grows and matures. Still a keeper for the early harvest, but not a favorite (yet anyway).
